On November 5, 2024 I knew I’d have too much anxiety to watch the electoral results alone. I made a spur of the moment decision to ask Miss Venezuela Teatro Bar if they wouldn’t mind allowing me to host an election watch party. They said yes.

I thought I’d be with about 4 to 5 people, but roughly 30 people attended. Some were from the US, but others were from Argentina, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, and India, to name a few. Many of the USians attending were of nonwhite descent. 

We had some semblance of hope, but sometime around 11pm Buenos Aires time, we knew. 

I visited my family for Christmas and New Year 2024 and bought a flight back on January 10, 2025. I know that being in the US during the Presidential inauguration would taint my year. I didn’t have to be in the U.S. for that to happen. I went through multiple mental health episodes that needed my attention.

But sometime in June things changed. I decided to start producing more of my own comedy shows. They worked out sometimes. Other times they didn’t. Now I’m planning more things, asking for advice, and emailing fellow comedians with my electronic press kit (EPK). 

Then I decided to ask for help for the final 2025 show in my comedy circuit, Legally Funny. My friends in a local Buenos Aires writing group signed up to perform. We rehearsed, and then I set expectations, treated my friends to Vietnamese food and guacamole, and we decided we’ll just let go and allow the universe to work. 

Anyway, Legally Funny: Good Riddance, 2025! is a themed show with an all-women lineup. It’ll consist mostly of poetry. It has funny moments. It’s gonna get very feminist. I’m proud of everything my colleagues have done to prepare.

El 5 de noviembre del 2024 sabía que tendría demasiada ansiedad como para ver los resultados de las elecciones de EEUU yo sola en casa. Tuve el impulso de preguntarle a Miss Venezuela teatro bar si estaría bien ver las elecciones en el restaurante. Dijeron que sí.

Yo anticipé una reserva de 4 o 5 personas más. Llegaron casi 30 personas y aunque muchos eran de los EEUU, llegaron varias personas de Argentina, Venezuela, la India, la República Dominicana y más. Muchos de los estadounidenses presentes tenían antecedentes de otros lados. 

Teníamos un poco de esperanza pero más o menos a las 23hs en el huso horario de Buenos Aires, supimos.

Visité a mi familia para navidad y año nuevo en el 2024 y compré mi boleto de vuelta a Argentina para el 10 de enero del 2025. Sabía que estar en EEUU para la inauguración de la penicilina rancia (así le llamo a DT) no sería bueno para mí. Igual, no tuve que estar en EEUU para que DT arruine mi año. Tuve varios episodios de salud mental que requirieron mi atención. 

Pero en junio algo cambió. Comencé a producir mis propios shows de comedia. A veces funcionaron. A veces no. Ahora estoy planificando cosas y estoy mandando mi EPK a otros comediantes por email. 

Después decidí pedir ayuda para el último show del año de mi circuito, Legally Funny. Muchas amigas de un grupo de escritoras se anotaron para subir. Practicamos, les compré comida vietnamita y les preparé guacamole. Les hablé un poco sobre la escena y todas decidimos dejar que el universo funcione. 

Pero bueno, Legally Funny: Good Riddance, 2025! Es un show con una temática y tiene una grilla de mujeres. Habrá más poesía que comedia pero habrá momentos chistosos. Sería muy feminista. Estoy muy orgullosa del trabajo que mis colegas hicieron para que salga bien.
